evening guys and gals. Right my engine cover is vibrating at low revs and is doing my head in. Also another vibration sounds like its from behind my blower? Annoying! Also when I roll up to a round about in 2nd or 3rd and try pull off again with about 1500 revs the engine misses a beat and jolts. Like there's no power for a split second. Had the spark plugs changed and the guy who did the timing belt is going to check his work this week, but just curious if any one else has had this problem and knows what it is and how to cure it? Cheers guys

Seems to be a fairly common "issue" with the GTI...
There are numerous possibilities...without more information it could be anything..
But things worth checking:
--Coil pack and HT leads
--Check that the air filter/pipework is in good order
--Clean the throttle body
--Check for error codes on the ECU assosiated with a faulty CPS sensor (crank position sensor)...
--Check fuel filter...
If none of those fix it...then get it plugged into VAGCOM asap and find the fault....
Of course...if it started AFTER the cambelt was changed...then something there might not be right!!

Didn't think bout the induction side of things. Will check when I get spare min. How do you clean the throttle body? My cousin changed all the spark plugs last week so they're fine and guess the ht leads are too as he'd prob of picked it up. He also plugged it in and no fault codes. It should be going in this week for the guy to re check his work on the timing. Could a blocked up air filter cause this too? Or would that affect it across the whole rev range? No clues how to cure thevannoying vibrations? LOL

I clean my throttle body using a cotten bud and some mild spirits....works well....but be really really carefull..
You can also get a spray that is designed to clean it as well....but I dont like the idea of pouring anything other than petrol and air into my engine!!
A seriously blocked fitler could cause issues with the engine picking up...the chances of it being the problem are slim...but worth checking if you are cleaning the TB...
As for HT leads...you cant visually see that they are breaking down, but they do...especially on the GTI where the leads are under quite a lot of stress....
I have an annoying vibration at aorund 2000RPM as well...occurs somewhere around the blower area.... No idea what it is....Just turn up the radio!

Ill prob go for the easy option with the spray stuff LOL. You mentioned crank possitioning sensor, could that be disturbed or broken during timing belt and water pump being changed?
