reverse light switch!

has anybody had to swap there reverse light switch before if so is it a tricky job?

checked fuse and bulb and there fine and still no reverse light so thats the only other thing isnt it?

No0t a difficult job... Unless I am mistaken... its located on the front of the gearbox.... Unclip the wire, and unscrew it...

You might loose some oil through the hole though so be prepaired to top it up!


Take out the switch and put a mulitmeter continuity tester on it... See if it beeps when you push the switch...

umh as i thought, priced one up from vw and its 8.23 plus vat so not to bad !

would have thought the fault light would have come on :roll:

Its unlikley the fault light would come on... as the reverse switch is not connected to the ECU... its just a switch....

Test the switch before you buy one... if you can get to it, stick ur multimeter on the switch fitted to the car... get someone to put the car into reverse...and see if the switch gives you anything...

just unplug the switch and bridge the wires out in the plug, just use a bit of wire or paper clip, if the lights come on then you have a faulty reverse light switch. Easy :)
