Replacement of the GTi

Hey people, as some of you may know, i crashed my car last week, pretty horrid experience, but have come out unscathed! The good news is (apart from survival!!) that i have taken my car to an LPG centre, and they have been able to remove the LPG system out of my car, and hopefully it can go straight into a replacement!! :D
Unfortunately i have to part ways with the GTi and in truth from the whole VW scene (for now!!) ive had 2 Polo's and a Fabia (based on polo!!) and i think its now time to move on.....I need some opinions!! Ive narrowed my replacement to 3 cars!
2000+ BMW Coupe 318CI (2.0L)
2001+ BMW Compact 316ti/318ti (1.8L,2.0L)
2001+ Toyota Celica 1.8vvti (140bhp model)

Ive considered a few others, like the audi s3/tt, mini cooper s, but insurance plus daily running costs makes them inviable!

Would really appreciate feedback from anyone that has driven or sat in the above cars!...or even opinions on preferences based on looks...thanks alot!!

oh and thanks for all the help and guides through my ownership of the GTi, its been extremely handy!!
Cheers
Naz

I'd personally sway towards the BMW Coupe. Much prefer it over the compact, and I think the Celica's look awfully dated now-a-days.

Coupe definately. Corolla is reliabile but duller than the colour biege and the compact is a poor mans 3 series

lol!! did you mean corolla or celica??! (to mouse!) as for the celica looking out of date, im not too sure about that overseer, i think it looks rather stylish...although the comments on the compact are common!! i dont know why i do still like the compact, but only the ones that have the m tech kit, they look stunning

DROOLSSSSSSSSSSS

Although, i do agree with the poor mans 3 series theory!! its a case of whether you prefer to be bottom of the top or top of the bottom as my dad used to say!!!!!!!!!!! :?

Go for the 3 series mate but try and get a bigger 1 then a 318ic because most the people driving them Think the are big and the its got no balls

i'd actually go for the celica...there is one around bournemouth that has been modified & looks really good!! and very modern!. Not keen on the bogo 3 series's to be honest..but it depends what you are after...they will be painfully slow even compared to the gti

I see what your dad is saying...but id rather be top of whatever i can afford at the time, i would hate the feeling of pulling up next to a better version of exactly the same car...

My exact reasons for getting the GTi. I was looking at A3s originally.

Coupe over Compact, I think the compact looks awful.

Why on earth did I read Corolla lol. Celica is still a bit boring, but I'd have it over the compact. BMW Coupe ftw

i think the celica would be fun

Hi, thanks for sharing your views!! my budget is between 4-5k which is rather low, but im looking for a 51 reg (not too new) as the 52+ are out of the price range...My brother has had a few bmw's in his time. There are certain overheating issues with the older engines. However, as far as i know the 2.0 litre isnt as problematic!!

The celica ive ruled out-ish, i dont know if anyone shares this opinion, but its tooooooooo plastic for my liking and after flying into barriers id rather the BMW!!... Though it is nice(Celica), but its something i look at and think yes thats nice BUT im reluctant to pay for one!!!!....Im definately swaying towards the coupe!! i did go to chesham, to have a look at one, but it was a poor example so i left it!

Im still on the look out!!!!!! getting rather impatient now

One thing which would have put me off the Celica is the horrible "plastic-fantastic" interior.

I contemplated one for about 25 seconds, and then settled on the S3.
