Mat fixing

Right, finally got round to putting in the GTi mats that I bought of D77.

Got a slight problem though. There are already fixings in the floor, problem is, they are too long and too thin for the ones I have on the mats.

I've got new screwy thingys to go into the carpet, I just need to remove the old ones first. I've tried unscrewing them, but no good.

Anyone had a similar problem, I'm not sure if I like need to yank them off; worried I'm gonna leave a massive hole in the carpet

Any help would be appreciated

You have to lift the carpet up and disconnect them from underneath - they are snap lock connectors

Or - you take the fittings off your old mats, and put them onto the new mats you have.

Yeh I faffed about for ages with my mat fixings. It's much easier to get the matching mat fixings as appose to changing the floor fixings.

You'll soon find how useless the mats are and find yourself hating anyone who sits in the back seats (as they always slide forwards)

If you do, give this a read:

Oh, so there are ones I can buy that would use the original fixings?

Don't suppose anyone has a part number?

im on my way back to uni so can't check now unfortunatley, anyone with pop fixings will be able to tell you though, it is simply printed on the underside of them. or go into a dealers, as they have a few diagrams of various fixings you can buy, and simply point them out
