is it possible to buy the digital part for the semi-climatronic and just swap it over ?
or is there more work to it than that ?

From what I understand mate it's huge work and much easier and cheaper to order from the factory.
You have to obviously buy the new part, new loom, re program the ECU, I think you have to add a couple of sensors etc...
I don't know too much about it, but I'd say it is 'do-able' for a lot of £££'s and hours/days of hassle

yeah,that's very difficult.
