New Tyres, Traction, etc

Think I'm gonna need new tyres soon. Currently got Toyo T1'S (or R's). Was thinking of getting the new Toyo Proxes 4 which are meant to be a noticeable improvement and really good in the wet. Any other alternatives and would it be worth replacing the rears at the same time (even though they won't be as worn).

The GTI seems to have rubbish traction in the wet. Ended up at the lights with some chav in his 106 GTI in the fast lane. As the road ahead merges into 1, I knew exactly what he was gonna do so I planned on not letting him get his way...until the lights went green and all I got was immense wheelspin whilst he was away, how embarassing. What else other than new tyres would improve the traction?

Sounds like you need to learn to control the clutch better to pull away :p

Have a look at the Yokohama S-Drive.... I had them on my car for a year... and they are AMAZING!

I now have some s**t eagle things... which are w**k..

I am ordering some S-drives on monday.. I am fed up of sliding around roundabouts!

Are the S-Drives much of a step up in price in comparison to T1-Rs?

Answers my question! I may look at getting some of these when the Monos come back on the road. It's a shame cos my Toyos have shed loads of tread left, there's just a neat knackered inside edge around two of them. God bless negative camber

toyos are better than s drives in the dry btu not where near as good in the wet or even damp roads plus toyos are very soft and will waer quicker than s drives i had toyos and only last me 2 months and my s s drive have last 3 months so far and still got lots of life in them

Those little 106 GTi's are quick. (Awful build quality though like all french motors!)
Same engine as the Saxo VTS but not as quick when it comes to acceleration.

Good luck sourcing some new tyres
