Right, have discovered some rust under my drivers arch, spreading onto the wing. Car is a 2000 polo gti, question is will VW repair the rust, im sure they have a 10 year rust warranty or something? Only thing is the car has been modified a wee bit with coilies and some G60's, dont know if this would affect warranty if there is one.

Sorry for the first post, im more of a lurker.... A regular over on scottishvag tho :D

Welcome to uk-polos!

I have rust on my rear drivers-side arch, either caused by the previous owner's possible accident damage (no-one is sure) or simply stones/debris bouncing off the tyre and in to the inner arch, in time causing a small hole and allowing the tinworm in :?

Either way it needs sorting. I went to VW but they weren't interested, citing evidence of previous accident repair work. Looks like the paint is a bit thicker than on the other side of the car...

Oh plus, when their (overpriced) quote finally arrived on my doormat, even with my chassis number, paint code and registration details to hand, they quoted the colour as "dragon green". I mean, I ask you!

Erm anyway... sorry... rant over  its worth getting VW to look at it but IMHO it is unlikely they will do the work under guarantee, they will find a way out somehow!

Cheers

Hmmm, i will take it in and see what they say. Would be good if they fixed it, if not i will just have to kurust under the arch and touch it up, not really spread onto wing yet. Would wait and see if it got any worse before bodyshopping it.

Im sure VW fixed some rust on my lupo a few years ago but cant remember the circumstances.

I only had a tiny bit of rust on the underside of the bonnet, where there are pre-cut holes. Rubbed it down and put grease on it. No signs of rust anywhere else

Very few cases of rust on the 6N2 on here. Good luck with it, and let us know what VW say

VW basically told me to do one... say it has been left too long, having only had the car a week there is nothing i can really do! Will get a bit of kurust on it and do a wee repair till i can afford to get a new wing on and sprayed :)
