Worst design ever

What idiot in VW designed the fitment of the air filter and the filter itself? Can't get my spanner on it, it just slips because the thread is crap. I'm using the same one I've used all the time and this time it just won't grab it. Couple that with the fact you got about 0.1 mm to get your hand in and there is an electrical wire right next to the thread (which gets damaged everytime you do an oil change), then you just about loose your patience (I have)

Sorry for the continued rant...now the bolt has came off the filter. It sheared off when trying to untightening it. So angry just now, now I'm gonna have to take the car to a garage for my next oil change which is probably around £40 at least when counting the time to remove that filter. I ain't having a good week

Don't worry mate, we all have our bad days. It took me and some mates 8 hours to fit my brakes in the end, it happens! You referring to the oil filter?

That cos some idiot has over tightened it!
trust me when there done properly there one of the easest 2 do!
only ment 2 be hand tight!!!!!!! o and that ac wire your supost 2 disconect BEFORE u undo the filter!

What is the wire for exactly? I'll know that for the future

its the control wire for the ac pump!
