Im after a good suspension setup for when the engine go's in, im not bothered about if its coilovers or a very good set of shocks and springs, I will be getting custom strut braces made as the gti one wont fit around the engine i dont think.
I will be using poly bushes all round and toyo proxie 4's possibly with a nice set of toyo R888's for track use only
So what can you guys sugest??
thanks

Whatever you choose make sure it has adjustable damping in rebound at least...
And make sure it has adjustable sping seats so the car can be set up properly by setting the corner weights (and make sure you actually get it setup properly)
Think about achieving the correct camber/caster/track with whatever springs you get.. if its too low you might not be able to setup the suspension properly... not a problem when you have 130hp... but with 300 you need the suspension properly setup!
If I was doing it... I would weld a cross brace between the rear strut towers... and then modify the front strut towers to take adjustable slide mounts....

I would choose KW Variant 2 or 3, personally.

I doubt you will be able to fit a front upper strut unless your engine is sat very very low and then you will have to sacrifice not being able to lower your car.....we chose to mount my engine higher so i can run it a bit lower than the other guys.
yes definatly make sure you get coilovers that are damping adjustable. what size wheels are you planning on running 15" or 16"?
also how are you planning to reach 300bhp?

Hi mate, Ok thats good to no about the strut brace, i was having my doubts about it anyway.
I will be running 16 inch team dynamic 1.2's
i intend to achive 300bhp by using the later BAM enigne (225 bhp standard) with a Lovely FMIC, boost controller, exhaust obviously the usual bits and bobs and standalone managment with a really good map. with that combo i should be well on my way to achiveing that sort of power.
I looked at the KW site and the prices are abit ropey i cant work out the price for varient 2 and 3 so i will give them a call in the morning

you won't touch over 280 max on a bam/ko4 setup, if you want 300 or more it's big turbo time or ko4 hybrid at the least

well i was 20bhp off sorry it was just a prediction
I will be looking to go for the whole hybird turbo stuff when i am used to the power but i think that may be a while.
out of interest are there any polos on that kind of power? i heard there was a 330bhp one whats the spec of that:?

There's ash's well known mk4 running IHI vf34 (so around 330hp) although peak figures aren't the ihi's strong point, and Tomos polo looks like it will pretty quick too

don't know of any more big powered polos, there are quite a few standard ko4 setups kicking about as well which are by no means slow, it's just the jump from 280 to 300plus is large and expensive

cough
you may get a tad over 280 with a ko4 but not much over and pushing the ko4 past those levels it aint gonna last long
been their done it

off to big turbo land for me now
back on topic, i run a D2 racing setup on my polo =
