Hi Guys
I'm quite new to this forum so forgive me if I do anything wrogn or break forum rules
Here are a few pictures of my 2002 Polo 1.2. Got it back in Aug 08 after passing my test and love it to bits. The main reason why I have posted pics is I was wondering if any more experienced 'modders' can give me any hints on tips on giving the car a little 'extra'.
At the moment I'm looking for alloys, either Fabia vRS or BBS Montreal II off a Golf GT!!
Here is a link to the photos

Many Thanks
Mike

Are they the actual Polo Montreals or are they from the Golf. Only reason why modding is on hold is I have a rather huge bill coming for a new passenger seat frame!! Also, what have you lowered yours by TDI_Burd?

First thing first welcome to the site
If you have a look in the photo gallery at the top of the page you will get quite a few ideas from what other people have done.
If I were you I would start with a set of alloys and lowering.

Thanks for your advice Chewy,
Would the BBS Montreal II alloys from a Golf fit on a Polo like mine?
Thanks
Mike

I got my alloys from a Golf, the tyres that were in that picture i posted were 205/55/16 ive since lowered the profile to 195/45/16 and the car sits and looks a lot better now!!
Im down 50mm but its quite bumpy

Would you say 30-40mm woudl be suitable?
As regards fitting, I can see that the front would be a case of removign the old ones and replace with smaller one but at the rear there isn't any spring, looks like the shock absorber or am I missing something? Also, how easy are they to fit? Thanks, Mike

I am down 30mm but want to go lower
As for fitting it all depends on how much mechanical knowledge and what tools you have.
The springs on the rear are not round the damper like the fronts they are separate.
This guide will be of help even tho its for fitting coilovers

So in order to lower the car, do I only need springs? Sorry to sound dumb!

Hi Guys
There has been abit of a change in the alloy wheels - insted of the BBS Montreal like TDI_Burd, I think I've got my mind set on the 16'' Contur shown here:

They should fit on my Polo shouldn't they?
Mike

Yeah they will find no problem

Yeah anything up to 30mm you only need springs any lower and you also need to change the dampers

Do you think the car would sit nicely on 30mm?
