cleaning BMC

has anyone tried cleaning their BMC air filter?

if so, could you pm or post some pics up or a diy guide thing so i can do mine....

I just remove mine from the engine bay, shake anything clogged in it out, and clean it with APC or something similar. Pretty sure you can get dedicated cleaners also though.

ah cheers tim, i thought you werent allowed to get water in it :S

so i should be alright just shaking it and using some APC?

The official way is with a cleaner sachet in water, but a soak in warm apc and water should work

You must ensure that you reoil the filter after you wash it out with special red bmc spray oil, or the filter will rot and work ineffectively

Last time I was up at Demon Tweeks I asked them what was best to clean my BMC and they sold me a K&N cleaning kit, complete with the necessary oils etc to treat the filter after cleaning. Haven't used it yet!!

What the devil is APC?

Meguiars All Purpose Cleaner - cleans anything!

Or just and All Puprose Cleaner in general. Lots of companies do them. Meguiars is probably the most popular though.
