Hi,

These are some photos of my car. Just testing to see if I have actually got the hang of this posting image thing!

Its only a CL but Im 17 and at College = Budget!!!! I would like to think what I have done is quite subtle but it works! PS like the 1st photo, it now features clear side repeaters!!!

Cheers, its being lowered in a couple of weeks, on a set of original G40 springs so it isn't gonna be a major drop. Might get some of those Dubmeister.co.uk German style number plates. They look good on my mates car. I want a G40 interior too, but obviously money is the main factor! Glad you like what ive done, tried to go for that G look. Keep your comments coming, they are helpful!

Yeah thinkin about goingthe same route as you mate! the BBSs are well nice, and the rub strips look quality.
as regards to the lowering don't you thinkit would be better a little lower? Or do you suffer from speed bumps around your area too?

yeh I searched quite hard to get the G40 arches and skirts. Im quite pleased with the finish though. About the lowering, I have had the G40 springs lying around my room for months, thought they might as well go first. There are lots of speed bumps near me, and I do get the occassional arch rubbing. But its the profile of my tyres which is the main problem. They are 185/60 so a big drop would cause major rubbing! I could spend big money replacing each tyre but I might as well fork out for new wheels too.

But (here it is!) I am trying to save for my G40, which if every insurance company on the planet doesn't laugh me off the phone, should be happening late summer/early autumn!

Dilemma! - Continue with CL, or save for G???

hey mate, car looks real smart, very clean! i got loadsa bits going on mine when it gets warmer, including the g40 arches and skirts!

if i were u, keep ur car for a while, u'll get stumped for insurance on a g40! i am currently saving money for a g40 later on in the year, bt i am still gonna buy stuff for my current car, i dont' want to do too much more on it as it wouldn't be worth it! spend in moderation, but don't over do ti!

Thanks mate. Yeh might do, will investigate how much new tyres will cost. Also still after that G40 interior. I guess I haven' t even had the car a year yet, it was a completely bog standard CL when I got it, so thats not bad going as it is!

With regards to how clean it is, I wash and polish it once every two weeks. I am paranoid of the red fading (like the Cavalier it is parked in front of in the 1st photo!!). The g40 arches, skirts and the bumpers+the golf front spoiler are treated to bumper blackener!!!

that looks like a seriously clean mk3. nice one.

why dont you carry on modding it & then when you can afford the insurance put a G40 engine into it? you could spend forever & a day trying to find a G40 as clean & straight as that. also, all the mods you've done to that car wont go to waste either.

thanks mate. maybe do a g40 conversion but its nearly as much to get all the bits for a conversion as for a whole g40! I have thought about it. I guess it would be a waste to sell it, especially for the tinted windows and the custom exhaust!!!

You've done a great job to that. I must say I'm quite envious. My Alpine White CL looks rather cute a furry compared to that. I see you've been brave and drilled the roof for the b-sting? I was considering doing that, as the VAG arial snapped off in a car wash when my auntie had the thing. In the end I wussed out of a b-sting lol.

thinking of that, how do you get rid of the hole where the old aerial used to be?

Thanks. Ive got a new addition not shown in the photos above! I put a mk2 golf cl front spoiler, (like the one on the front of mine) on the back. Seen a few people do this, never was really convinced but wow! For a couple of quid from my scrappy, it makes the car look much lower, wider, and the exhaust now fits nearly flush, giving it that factory fit look.

With regards to the bee-sting, i like it, gives a great signal and adds to the cars appearance. The old hole is flushed using a smart black cap, no filler.
