Thought it was time to show the Polo.
Love it to bits, even though it's got a major attitude problem with me.. Cambelt, camshaft sensor, altenator, leads and now exhaust, hence the name 'GTi.. Am broken', even though it's fine now
Anywho pics were taken last Sunday, me and and a mate decided to go wild at Workington docks seen as though my Grandad let me loose with his digital SLR.8)
Exhaust is booked in for next Saturday and errr I finally had the sidelights changing today so no more orange lights. Whoop. They actually look the bizz.. Nothing special at all to tell.

Hmm, try a larger ISO and wider aperture setting - the piccies look a little on the dark side. Almost certainly because you are new to the camera. :D

Otherwise, the car looks amazing.

Is it true the silver ones go faster than red ones? ha

Haven't updated this for errr, a while. I've got a progress thread on my local forum that details more but I'll just try and shorten the updates for now..

So the following has gone on...
05/04/2009 - Exhaust sorted - Powerflow job - £249.99. Nice sounding, didn't like it at first but got used to it.
The day after this I took a trip to my local gearbox dude that knows his stuff, told him about my knotchy gears..
07/04/2009 - Clutch kit ordered from GSF parts
12/04/2009 - My first DIY mod :) Colour coded rear VW badge and sprayed GTi badge.
From this...

To this...

And

14/04/2009 - Polo dropped off to have gearbox recon :)
17/04/2009 - Picked polo up total cost was £460 - Including new gearbox mount and full recon'
18/04/2009 - RR'd with another of my local car clubs - 126.7bhp and 129lb torque. Very pleased to say the least.
Then I was getting fed up of the car and considered selling as I do around 70mile round trip going to work and back everyday, so thought diesel would be a better option.. Then..
05/05/2009 - PhilJ coilovers ordered! £215 8)
I had an argument with a wall also whilst getting carried away on a windy dual carriage way round my area.. Which ended up with this.
Image
10/05/2009 - Coilovers fitted. Whoop whoop. Too low? Yep I think so.. Keep reading.

Polo with my mates fiesta WRC van - Power by diesel but looks the mutts nut IMO
Image

Practicality of the lowness was very bad indeed. Struggled to get anywhere, in and out of work scraped everytime. Took a trip to Kwik fit (mates rates) to get the car tracked etc.. Car was too low.

Random couple of pics of what it looked standard to what it was with the coilovers..
Image

Image

27/05/2009 - Spent another £204.. Wheel bearing had seriously gone on the passenger front because the car was too low and both front tires were bald due to the tracking being a mile out. Wheel was mega wobbly, not good at all. So seen as though I can get a fair discount at Kwik fit my mates boyfriend, Joe, sorted me out with 4 new tires (45's!!), and wheel bearing. Saved myself £150!! Tires alone should've cost £220 all in... Also got it heightened by about 2 inches. On the pics it still looks the same height but in the flesh you can tell it's not. No scrubbage at all, and no knocking. Whoop.

30/05/2009.. MOT TIME - Booked in at my local VW (Got a letter off them offering MOT and service for £129 so thought I might as well take up on that offer.. Wish I never!)
Service - Check :)
MOT - FAIL :(

Failed on the following..
1. Exhaust emissions (Only failed by like 0.1.. As instructed to by my good friend Dean, I put some Comma petrol magic in and had a blast round Keswick/Whinlatter, see if that would help!)
2. Nearside CV joint boot is split (£97.18 from VW )
3. Offside suspension rubber bush deteriorate resulting excessive movement (£82.23 from VW, again.. )
They gave me a £5 voucher for the car world which was nice, so used that to by the petrol magic stuff.

08/06/2009 - MOT work sorted - £100 all in by another garage. Now the MOT retest is booked in for Friday. Fingers crossed.

Sorry for the massive post, I will update on the day in future :D

Sounds like a lot of sorting out! How's she running now?

Use the mirror as an excuse to get a stubby one now 8)

Aye, I've put ALOT of money into this car. Over 1k I would say. Still have the engine check light on the dash. Vagcom has confirmed that its still the timing - Had the cambelt changed about 2 months ago, just before the gearbox. Sumet like a cam timing sensor or sumet along them lines??

I've been searching for a stubby, a few on german ebay, just waiting for pay day :)

looking good, i would never go to a VW garage for any work unless you have a warrienty with them, seem to charge more, well my local one does.

you decided on the wheels yet???

Not getting wheels as of yet, gonna save my money for a rainy day, and might just get them powder coated. Not sure.

Done some more spraying yesterday seen as though it was sunny...

Took the front grill of to spray the VW and the GTi the same as I've done on the back of the car..

I struggled to get the VW out of the grill - My patience wore thin very quickly, but a trusty knife helped me along the way..
Image

Sprayed it using halford gloss black.. Came out well I think. Decided to give the 'inside bit' of the VW bit a coat of silver to see what it looked like - Still in two minds whether I should've done it all black..?? Or if the 'two tone' thing is working. God knows.
Image

Then for the GTi badge - I could not for the life of me get the clippy bit off, so I sulked and decided to just take the actual badge off instead of struggle, if that makes sense. Was the best option though. Used some dental floss to get it off.
Left me with this..
Image
(The scissors were used in my attempt to get the full badge off the grill - Still didn't work)

So yeah, after everything was dry I ended up with this.. Notice the 'T' shape on the ground hahaha, mother was not happy. But I had no newspaper to use.
Image

And ta daaaaaa... Looks better in the flesh.
Image
Not sure if I like it. Need to get a little paint brush and paint the outside of the 'I' bit black.

Pics of the fiesta van for the hairdresser...
