Camera advice needed

hi all i enjoy taking photos

and im fed up of just a bog standard digital camera

soi want to get a good slr

but new to it so dont want to spend crazy money just incase i cant get along it

so just wanting some suggestions

less than £400 is a must really not too flush at the minute

Canon 400d or

Canon 1000d and you will have a bit of change left over.

other options are nikon d40 and,..... I can't think of anymore at the moment

Nikon D60 or possibly a Canon 350D (my funds couldn't quite stretch currently so opted for a Sony Alpha 200, you can get this with a Twin lens kit for under £400

I'd recommend a second hand Canon 400d and a Sigma 17-70 F2.8-F4 Lens
