The engine warning light could mean so many different things that it's worth checking with the garage using the VAG problem code reader. It could be something as simple as you putting in 95 fuel instead of 97, or could be as erroneous as damaged spark plugs or oil leaking into the engine. Best thing is to get it checked out earlier than later, before more damage gets done.

Seconded. That light points to sooo many things.
Just take it back to the garage and say it started acting up not so long after you drove it away, and would they mind looking at it.

latest update is took it back to garage they checked it over and run it and decided it is bad fuel, maybe cause it has sat for 5 weeks with a full tank and hasn't run at all. He did say that he doesn't have the computer to plug into the car though. So do I run the car then put some new fuel?? 5 weeks doesn't seem that long.

Yeh run it down then puyt some new fuel in and see what happens.
Inform the garage though and make it clear what you are doing, so that if the problem is still there after a few fill ups you can take it back and go from there. Otherwise they'll just forget about it.

They possibly left a lamda sensor disconnected. You have to unplug it to remove the gearbox as the wiring is close to it.
