Im gonna get around to refurbing my 16s at somepoint this year. Gotta find somewhere that can do a decent job of painting the centers first!
I think their Polished and Lacquered so I will have to remove the original lacquer and re-polish the outer lips.

My centres are still mint to be honest its just the outer rims that have suffered. Are you looking to get the centres re-sprayed in the original colour or are you going for different coloured centres this time?

UPDATE:

Right the car is being detailed today by a company called ProShine based in North Wales
Its being done at the moment in the warehouse in my work and from what I have seen so far it looks awesome!

I will post some pics later this evening when the car is completely finished.

£160.00 in total which is not cheap but that includes 9 hours labour, plus he is throwing in a free interior vallet (leather treatment etc) and he is also doing my headlight lenses for me which is awesome.

Pics to Follow 8)

I would've done a wash, clay machine polish and wax for a £100 plus travel!

Not bad to be fair, obviously be a bit of a treck up to North Wales though :) .
The guy who did the detail was a top bloke to be fair, he was only a one man firm and he was explaining about some of the horror stories associated with some of the well established detailers. My paint was not too bad anyway the worst parts are the bonnet & roof but they are not salvagable and do require re-spraying.
After 12 months of motoring my front bumper has seen some action and now has several stone chips which require some attention.

Cars looks great though, here are a handful of pics from yesterday. Camera was just a Digital 8MP Canon so the pics are pretty poor quality and dont do the care justice

The Headlight Lenses are much improved, still a little hazy but their 100% better than they were

Really happy with the outcome and it just needs a few paint touch ups here & there to set it off.
I am thinking of getting the roof vinyl wrapped but that will be later on in the year.

Looks excellent... one of my favourite GTI's for sure. Very close to how I want mine (when I get one) to look.

@Tim... Fancy a trip to Northern Ireland to detail my car some day? haha :P

Cheers Mate, Yeah very happy with the results.
Its probably the best money I have spent on the car in terms of satisfaction & value for money. The guy was really proffesional and had all the top detailing equipment so there really was no issues whatsoever.

Cheers mate,

The best way to bring the headlight lenses back to their best is a machine polisher rather than attempting it by hand.
The machine polishers can get very hot though and it has been known for people to burn or melt the plastic lenses so if you are going to attempt it, just be extra careful.

Car looks great, I have The same car, black gti with the leather heated seats, your car is pretty much exactly what i'm aiming for eventually.

Your wheels- Are they just standard 15'' g60 steelies?? i Nearly bought some off ebay the other day, but bottled it! They look great

Thanks mate :)
Nice to see somebody else with a Black GTI that has the heated leather seats.

Yeah their just the standard 15" G60 steels mate, got mine off eBay in December last year and fitted 195/45/R15 tyres.
