was at awesome the last few days having my rear 256 mm vented brakes done, im made up with the way they look and the handbrake now has a lot more feel, but the initial bite that was high up with the front 312's and solid rears has now moved further down the pedal

the car has been bled and bled again, its defo not air, and has been said due to having bigger pistons now, more fluid is being used so there will be a difference in pedal feel

im not sure im gonna be able to adjust to it thats all, dont get me wrong, they are still incredibly efficient at what they do, better than before, now feels much more balanced, i just want the high up pedal feel back

i have been informed as replacing the master cylinder by either a golf mk4 gti anniversary one or possibly an r32 one could assist this, but wont this just increase pressure at the same point rather than bring the pedal bite higher like it was?

any help with this one will be appreciated, i love good brakes, i have full front and rear tarox / golf 4 anni setup now, but would like it that bit higher up the pedal, thats the challenge

any ideas?

im running r32 fronts and rears with no probs pedal as normal are they bleeding the brakes manually or with a pressure bleeder

to my knowledge its with a pressure bleeder

they said its a machine what goes on and replenishes the fluid and removes the air accordingly

just to clear it up, the pedal feel went much better than the standard polo gti brakes with just the 312's up front, now with the 312's and 256's its returned to original polo gti feel again, pedal halfway down before im noticing them really kick in, with the 312's alone it was a lot of braking power instantly, almost more digital on or off feel than progressive like now

have you tried another viscosity of brake fluid jeff?

try a silicone based one like a dot 5.1 for a higher tempreture so theres no fade once you finish using them, might bring the pedal back to the top?

believe me there is absolutely no signs of fade as it is, they are super efficient as they are, just want that pedal higher

5.1 fluid and how many miles have you done since fitting these mew brakes??

not fade as such...

i mean silicone is less viscous to heating, so the pedal will stay firmer for longer - but may also bring it to the top

It could do give it a few more miles say another 100 you may be surprised jeff

if you have fitted new discs and pads on the rear the pedal should be bob on ask j from more bhp he has your set up!

ive got the same situation with my mk 5 gti, after i put four pots on it and wondered if a different master cylinder would make a difference?
