Actually saw a Phaeton - on the road(!)

Trundelling along the M62 btwn the M6 and the M602 this morning at about 7.45am, and there's this *huge* phaeton alongside me.

First one I've seen in the flesh, let alone "out in the wild."

Those things are seriously big. But, apart from the huge (oversized?) chrome grille and the (nicely subtle) twin W8-esque tailpipes, there's nothing much about it to suggest it's something special. Oddly - no badging other than the VW logo on it. No model name, no variant nomenclature. Very understated (in Rosewood, as this one was) -- well as far as you can be when your car occupies almost the full width of the m/way carriageway!!

Deek.

Looks like the big VW daddy is more popular than the apparently great new Fiat Panda... those things *are* already on sale right? (haven't seen a single one... anywhere... outside of the ads that is). Good but unpopular. Hmm.

the phaetons are even bigger to drive
and i think the salesmen at fiat dont want to admit that they might get commision from selling a panda

great new Fiat Panda
Saw one of these in Manchester last week. Hate to say it, but it looks really good. If Fiat get the Trepiuno right, they could be back on the right track. Now there's a manufacturer that's solving its problems by focusing on what it does best - cheap, fun to drive small cars. VW could learn some lessons (on returning to core values) there, I think.

Deek.

Haven't been in Sheffield since the end of March... there is a grey GT in Sheffield though, I've seen it in Sainsbury's on Archer Rd.
