Ive got a 57plate 1.2s and recently the steering has started to feel loose when im on a slightly bumpy road the steering does what it wants pulls side to side quiet harshly, when i turn a corner the steering wheel dosent re-centre itself like it used to, and if i brake hard it pulls to the side hard, also everything is standard but my suspension feels really hard alot harder then it was a few month ago i feel every bump in the road, had a courtesy car the other day and it made me realsie how harsh my polo is compared to that one please help

go to a garage to get it checked out, might be something to do with your power steering liquid.

your left tyre may be a bit deflated

also, roads are cambered so that the rain drizzles down to the drains. This naturally causes your steering to go left if you take your hands off the wheel.

im not a women mate i no all that and its not my tyre pressure it feels like somethings loose or theres a worn bush or sumat just wanted to no if anybody else has had this problem, so i could say what i thought it was when i go to vw coz my local vw just fob me of all the time without fixing the problem, been back 3 times for the boot re-alligned and still leaks abit.

This might sound daft but do you have a hid kit fitted?

Could be your tracking/wheel alignment, have you bumped a kerb or anything?

When braking hard does it always pull to the same side?

I was just wondering if he'd mind elaborating on that comment.
I'd be disappointed if someone on here were to stereotype all women and inply that they don't know anything/much about cars.

I agree with your sentiment completely, but I can't blame him for coming out with that (unfortunately) sexist remark as the posting he was responding to kind of "asked" or deserved it!

Personal I think that this problem will be due to a incorrectly placed soft toy - OH SORRY !!

It's no big deal, I am afterall on a male-dominated forum and I kinda expect it I guess.
Was a sexist comment really necessary to put the point across that someone may have suggested something simple though?

Snapped spring?

The factory fit Continental Sport Contacts on our GTI cause exactly those same symptoms when half worn and beyond. Part worn tyres have less give in the tread blocks, causing the steering to follow the road shape a bit too faithfully.

If the rear tyres have more tread depth, try swapping them over to see if it helps.

As it's a 57 plate, it's unlikely to be top mounts, rear wishbone bushes or dampers, which can also cause steering wanderbut no mileage was mentioned. If it's not a geometry issue, my money's on the tyres.
