just got phone call from the garage saying i neew a new clutch and gearbox, its going to cost me 630 quid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and ive just paid 260 for the MOT and paid 330 for a throttle body all in the past month!

then im was supost to be gettin money lent to get my boot sprayed, that'll be around 150 quid

gosh ive spent too much on the polo!

tbh 630 is an average price i got quoted 215 for a clutch and labour to include fitting the gearbox but i will have to buy the gearbox, a recondtition gear box is arround 445 then you sometimes get a surcharge of 75-100 for your old gearbox aslong as the casing isn't damaged so 630 is a fair price, it is a couple hours labour aswell

the throttle body seems a bit steep though

i had to take it to a specialist though, it would have been more if it was an actual new vw throttle body but i was offered a cheaper one, it was 100 quid labour though

ahh i see that explains it lol how bad is your gearbox ? mine needs doing but i cant afford it so ill wait for it to go "bang"

it was so loud i had t turn my music on and it was louder than my sub!
and i could really feel the vibrating on the whole car ;/

might be cheaper to have your own gearbox reconditioned rather than having a off the shelf recon in exchange for yours,my gearbox went last month ,damaged gears bearings ect were replaced and with a new clutch kit it came in at £430 with a years waranty.labour isnt much repairing a gearbox its the parts that cost so have yours examined before hand as you may save money

Have a look around and if you're lucky you'll find a gearbox under £300. I've had my CWX box (16v) recond twice which is more expensive at a cost around £450.

If your box sounds pretty shattered then best get one off the shelf as long as it comes with a years warranty. I'd advise not to recon your one if that's the case because it will have too much strain when its been weakened already.

I got lucky and found a CL box going for £260 with a warranty so you just have to look around.

fone a trade supplier n give them s**t like "hi im wesley from the polo garage in dub street im lookin 4 a price on a polo 95 clutch....you should get a gd price just make sure youv got a note of the address n number of the garage your claiming to be from in your head just incase...should save you some cash 4 the part and will be cheaper when you tell the garage u have the parts you want fitted...

dnt ya have a mechanic mate that cud fit it for cheep. and theres plenty of shops u can buy aftermarket parts from. i no u dont get a receipt or a guarantee but it wont cost tht!!
