Hi guys.

Well mine is starting to whine like a b***h. I had 2 mechanics look and they say it could be the dif bearing gone.
Would you recon i should replace the gearbox or just the bearing, i plan on doing it myself as cash is bad now....

Any ideas of cost on the bearings.
Any thing i should also be worried about while changing.

Recon your box and bearings, never get a NEW box as you dont no if you'll have the right ratio box normally, and you may not no the history of the box. normally when its whining its the diff bearings but your gears will no doubt be starting to break up. look at about paying £400 for reconing your box+bearings

i spoke to a gearbox company here, and they rekon its the bearings alright, they quoted me 450 euro,
but said nothing about reconing the box.
i dont trust these guys.....

Get the whole works done, if the company are talking about an overhaul then your on the right tracks. No point in getting it all out just to do the bearings.

Well i got the bearings done, couldnt afford the whole works. but have to say a great job. now 59000 miles on it lets see how long it lasts:)
the guys said that the rest of the box was fine.
cost 450 euro...
