Last week I recieved my spare key from the VW dealer (yet to be programmed). I had ordered a normal key with a light on it, however the spares department had ordered the wrong key. It was a flip key with a 3 button remote included (open all doors, boot and close buttons). I pointed this fact out to the head of the spares department and he commented the error was on their part and I would not be charged extra. I want to ask wheter this key can be progmammed in the same way and be used on my car. Secondly, can I have an alarm fitted by VW that will utilised the top part of the key fob to open and close all the doors. Lastly how much roughly would this cost. Any help would be much appreciated, keep up all the good work and thanks.

As far as I know all spare/new keys can be programmed to a cars own codes etc.

But if you don't have remote locking I'm not sure if you will have the actual same unit that allows deadlocking and stuff like that.

Do you have an alarm now? If you do maybe it's just a case of VAG-COM or the dealers tool to activate it.

But for them to fit it would properly cost £100's (labour charges is what gets the bill high). You could always get something aftermarket, but I'm guessing it wouldn't use the same keyfob.
