OK, coming back from the three counties VAG show today alsmot home and got out of a corner i know damn well. Go to put it in second and "GGGGGGGGRRURURNNNCCCCHHHHH"

followd by "F*&K!!!"

pulled into the pub down the road, talk to Big_G from Cardiff for a bit go to pull out of there, no first.. can't even get it in there so i end up pulling away in second slippin like mad, managed to whack it in 1st gear cos my drives steeep and narrow with a corcrete wall each side of it. Then pul up, can't get it into second now. which is weird bit of fiddelin later and get it in every gear now. (btw my reverse is totaly fine)

Is it time to go and find that GT gearbox?

any help will be greatly recieved, as i spent 3hours yesterday and 5hrs the day b4 cleaning it up, washing it and spraying back to black on it and it looks pretty damn goodn now.

i've got the same symptoms

it was suggested to me that it could be the clutch :x

if that's at all possiable, then it's probably it, cos the guy who put it in my car was the previouse owner, and he just shoved it in not using a turque wrench and i think he's over tightened it. Had some problems this morning with it making a high pitched noise but then depressing the clutch a little (around 2mm) it got rid of it. My pooooorrr car, I was just about to start doing the body work up as well.

Might be the gear linkage. Alexg40 had probs with his gearbox. He changed the oil and messed about with the gearlinkage and is ok now.

As Dom suggested it may be te oil in the gearbox, or lack of. Starting the car this morning it seemed to slip in and out of gear realy easily, but then coming back from the skip, the car seemed a lot worse for wear. I'm guna go check the oil level later on after all this ruddy coursework

if you figure out how to do it, please post some photos up of where you put the oil in and drain it out, still mystified after all these months :D
