Anybody out there know of where to get reasonable car insurance as mine has gone up 30 quid in the one year total joke especially when no claims and the car is a year older and would cost less to replace for them if the worst happened.

Yep, insurance will tend to go up year on year as it keeps costing more to payout whiplash claims and so on so everyone has to pay more and more. The value of the car has very little to do with the cost of insurance compared to paying out hundreds of thousands if you break someone's back for instance so it won't make a bit of difference if your car is worth less. Try ringing your place up as they often rely on inertia and apathy and push the prices up to see if they can take advantage.

Adrian Flux have been great with my mods. I tried Sky Insurance but they had a lower limit of £300 and Flux were lower than that. Flux have always given great service and my missus had no issues claiming when someone drove into the side of her Beetle.

Cheers for the input gents. I just get cheesed off when it keeps going up each year. I used to work in insurance and know the score but when I am getting older now 40 and alledgedly a safe bet having stayed at the same address for the last decade or so and no claims or convictions (other than being a victor meldrew at renewal times). I still find myself having ridiculus excesses because I have changed the suspension, interior, exhaust, wheels, side skirts, front fogs, braking system and rear roof spoiler to gti spec. The suspension only difference I could see was the springs being 15mm lower other than that no difference and the brakes are a safety concern hence I upgraded them as soon as I could as standard was crap. The rest is cosmetic and doesnt make the car go quicker in any way. The alloys really get on my nerves as the car came with alloys so the peril as they put or risk was there in the first place and I have locking wheel bolts on them and they wanted another 100 quid just for that alone 2 years ago till I argued the point with them.

Funny how they were able to take about 40 off the original quote with 1 call.

I think I will get a quote for a gti polo std and see where I am at with that and speak with them as the car is the same spec other than the engine.

One company asked was it VW that upgraded the items. I did them myself as time served and imo did a better job than VW would have done at my local garage. Have another month before I need to put my hand in my pocket and will post the outcome for you.

Just checked insurance qtes I can get a 130 bhp sport tdi for 310 quid and a gti for 340 fully comp full ncd pncb pretty much the same as what I have been quoted with the car modified and my car ain't as fast as a gti or the 130 sport. Lucky white heather

You need to find a broker that deals with insurers who don't put up premiums for non-performance mods. If I change anything on the Golf or Polo then as long as it's not a bhp increase they just insure it like-for-like. I can ring them up any time to add things to the list. Very good service and this was all brokered through Adrian Flux.

My missus rang up because they tried the same hike - got it down from £325 to £225. Cheeky gits.

Costing me an extra £350 on my policy for 20vT (1.2 atm) and thats if i do it now. Will be cheaper next year when it goes in.... hopefully.

Adrian Flux have quoted me tonight f*** me! A saving of nearly 110 quid all 12 modifications noted. So I am a happy lad . I will try the other insurance company mentioned in the last post tomorrow and see what they come up with. I hate being ripped off and that's what my current company are doing .
