9n headlights

Has anyone tried the joey mod on the 9n headlights? I got a pretty trashed headlight from a breaker, and to my disappointment couldn't open it because of the type of glue they use and clips that holds it in place.
In South-Africa there isn't any FK-automotive agents so it's very hard to get those nice blacked out 9n lights here, even though the 9n3 and Golf GTI has a MILLION parts available locally, the same as in the US and Europe.
What do those FK lights cost roughly???
