Hey guys,
Can someone highlight the replacement parts on a GTi if the cambelt is snapped? I'm looking at a replacement engine, however are there any other key componants that might have also been affected? Any help is useful,
Ta

Without taking the head off and inspecting it you wont know what has happened..
Best case scenario... you have a couple of bent valves which will have to be replaced...
Worse case, a valve snapped off and trashed a piston+bore....
Get it stripped down and let us know what you find!

Would I be right in thinking that should the first option be the case, only a top end rebuild required?

Camshaft can receive damage as the tappets can go out of sync. Valves, piston, and block damage is the main stuff to worry about dude.
The parts aren't particularly cheap to replace though, and you would have to get gen VW parts to do it - let me know the verdict, as I can get them all through trade
