I have a 2007 polo gti 1.8t which has been re-mapped. Since the remap was done it seems like my car is guzzeling coolent/antifreeze, or is it? usually needs topped up every 3 or 4 weeks. Does this sound normal or do I have a leak?

Sounds like a leak to me mate, sometimes in the very cold weather when i jump in my polo and start the engine the coolant light pops up, all i do is take the lid off the and screw it back on and the light clears as if it was air lock or something. can you physically see it dropping?

when i ignore it it goes away i dont know if its the sensor that is a bit over sensitive. im not having to put much in it tho each time. however during the christmas period there it came on the coolent was right on the min. line but i left it because i didnt use the car for 3 days then when i went back to use it the coolent was way below the line? :S therefore my car hasnt guzzled it when running? does it contract in the cold? bit of topic but i also have an oversensitive alarm. any1 had this?.........................broke key this morning in door locking it so i could leave it running whilst a made my breaky :( think hes turning into a clio lol ko

I have never topped up my coolant / anti freeze.

Do they do it during a service? I've had no lights or anything come on.

Same as Grapo here, only topped it up twice in about 2-3 years probably about half a litre in total at the very most over that period .

Sounds like either a split pipe or a cracked radiator, if its a crack rad you can put some rad fix solution in and it will seal small leaks for up to six months which will buy you some time to save up for a new rad, i don't know how much they cost but at a guess a couple of hundred pounds?

You should only need to top up at regular service intervals and anymore than that then you have a leak, the faster the drop the bigger the problem.

is the car overheating at all? and hows the car running ? what i would do is have the car running when its dry and see if u can see anything dripping underneath then u will have a good idea where its coming from if u got a leak
