To remap or not to remap...

...that is the question :D

My GT's going to cost me this year with a cambelt change due, brakes all round and that's before I start modding it. To be honest I've even thought about flogging it for a cheap hot hatch like a Clio 182 but don't think I could live with the renault build quality...

With a remap how quick is quick & is it worth it? Is it going to keep up with something like a Clio 182 mid range? What I don't wanna do is spank some money on the GT only to be let down later on and still wanting that hot hatch I can't keep up with

What a silly question...Go for a remap!! Whilst your mpg might drop a little bit its out weighed by the mph :D

What map you looking at?

Thats a lie.. it'll go up.. theres more power in the engine so less effort so less fuel

my vrs is 180bhp and 310lb/ft torque and is faster than aloy of 'faster' cars.

do it

Not sure but I've used Superchips before and were pleased with the results. I know the gains with them might not be quite as much & they arn't the cheapest but I'd suspect it's safer for the car, and they provide a warranty too...

had mine done in september - well worth the money. got it done by jason @ more-bhp and noticed an improvement in mpg as your not booting it all the time.

I would go for the remap mate,

I used to have the Clio 182 Trophy and I swapped it for the GT,

Don't get me wrong it was rapid and mint around corners but they're only fast off the lights as they are really light, you have to thrash them to use the full power as it doesn't kick in until after 5500rpm.

One of my mates has got a 406 coupe diesel remapped to approx 177bhp and the clio only just used to beat him in a drag race.

Plus with the mpg if i drove the clio like a granny around town i would struggle to get 30 mpg lol

I would reccomend re mapping the GT then saving you money and pick up a cheap 172 as a weekend/track car. :D
