Received an 'Information Update' at work yesterday on the Polo GT. Here's a few details:
3 door - £14,125 TBC
5 door - £14,625 TBC
0-60mph - 9.3secs
Top speed - 128mph
Combined MPG - 55.4
Noise - 70dB
Will have all the items of the sport as well as the 16" wheels, 6 speed box and 'individual GT trim' - don't know what that'll include yet, a few badges and bits of aluminium possibly?
Starts production in week 22, with one vehicle per dealer being initially ordered, either for demo or showroom purposes. These orders will all have the colour pack.
GT will included in next price list and brochure reprints.

So that'll be the 130TDi, then?
Any more info on options - xenons, for example??

My understanding is that, in Germany, the "GT" is an option pack that can be specced up against a variety of engines.
In the UK, the GT would be a model in its own right, so I'm hoping for something a bit more special when it makes it over here....

so the Gt is not the GTi?
Nope, well - at least I don't think so.
GTi comes with the facelift around this sort of time next year.
Deek.

I'm positive Climatronic (ie fully automatic AC) is standard on this model.
But 14.5 for the five door is still steep, considering you can get used Touran 2.0 tdi's for this price.

My spec sheet states semi-automatic Climatic.

lets hope the dash doesn't rattle.
It's going to be a good car becuase that engine in the Ibize flies and in a Polo body.. well
VW scouts this bit is for you, we want:
1) Xenons(optional or otherwise just make it available),
2) Climatronic air con,
3) Lowered suspention(not sports suspension like in the FSi and 100bhp- nice juicy and LOW. Slap that GT onto them 16s(*cough* Montral II's- uncanny)
4) ESP
5) A better head unit please Alpha??? where did that come from?
6)A nice exhaust like in the vRS,
7) silver bits in the interior and some other toys. I'm sure i missed out some important parts im sure others want on the GT.

Well ESP must be standard then, believe me even with traction my car can spin its wheels.

With a 1.8T depending on the beefyness of the turbo- faster than the diesel counterpart I'm guessing. Another good point about the 1.8T is that it is quite fuel efficient so say the majority people own one. Dont think it can touch the diesel on economy but it would be faster
Knowing VW they will bring out the long awaited GT in the current 9n shape to shift the remaining body shells then stick the GTi badge on the facelift 9n2. This would p*** me off if i had bought the GT in 9n form only to find within the 6 months after VW will facelift the 9n and not only that bring out the GTi. Imagine that though, you buy a nice Polo GT then be outstaged by the prettier GTi not long after. VW tend to do that. Personally i think they should have spent more time making the R32 and not boght out the mrk V
