'03' model indicator stalk...

I was speaking to Josh on msn the other day (he is borrowing an '03' Polo 1.4 auto) and he mentioned that he liked the indicator switch which carries on two more flashes after use (like the new A4's, nice little feature).
BUT WAIT, my car doesn't have this function!!
Does anyone else on here have it? Also, would it be easy to retrofit (I pressume its just the switch that needs replacing?)
I'd really like this mod as my wiper stalk is broke and I believe they come together anyway 8)
Cheers
Neil

it SHOULD be fairly easy to rig it up by adding a capasitor to turn on a relay and introduce a variable resistor in line with the capasitor to control how long the extra flashes stay on for

I've definately got this on my '03 Polo, as it was one of the first things I noticed.
Got rather annoyed that the indicator kept winking a couple more times after I'd knocked it off...thought it was duff!
Bit of a pain if you ask me, although you can just tap the indicator (as opposed to knocking it all the way up/down) it'll wink a couple of times, which is quite handy.

The 'blink-three-times' function is controlled by the car's ECU/Computer system, so the newer cars don't have the oldskool relays any more.
All this is hearsay, a German electronics guy told me this. So it could be completely accurate or utter
I think the dealer should be able to find out. Should.

Sorry but i didn't understand you very well. You mean that when you activate the indicator and you release it, it blinks one or two times more? This happens always or only when you keep the stalk pressed but not until the bottom?
Sorry for my bad english
so, Speedlaw, the dealer can activate this function?
thank you all

yes but on models that dont have any seblance of this feature it can also be done by fooling the ecu into thinking its still pressed

Don't know if it's an option you can turn on and off, but I guess the dealer could find out with their VAG-Com (diagnosis/communication device).
It's what the Mercedes models have now, you tap the stalk once, but it blinks three times. Pretty nifty.

I can't get used to it.
Hopefully getting my baby back on Wednesday morning (fingers crossed) so I won't have to bother about it (although I will have to learn how to change gears again!)
