I've downloaded the PDF, and had a look through, now I may just be imagining this, but I'm sure reading about it somewhere else you had to get the right frequency or something? I'm sure I'm not going mad, although I may be.

I know you can get the keys on eBay etc, and VW will cut the blade for me, so I'm gonna give this a go I think.

If you've done it, any hints or tips would be useful, possibly turn this into a new sticky with just hints n tips up-to-date etc, as that other thread isnt the most useful lol

Just noticed on the key (Standard Polo one) its got 435MHZ
On eBay all the flip keys are 433 or 434, I dont know enough and am probably being extra simple, but if I got one of them and put all the Polo key insides in, then, it should work, yes? no?

Im thinking of doing a similar thing chaps, as i have only one key which i'm bound to loose.... i'll begin doing some research of my own and see if we can crack this!

For reference, just took apart my key:


Obviously Immobiliser chip is still next to the keyblade inside, can clearly see it when you take apart.

Now, the bit confusing me is, how does this chipboard line up within the 2 button flip keys, got my mate taking apart his key atm and sending me a pic, then will swap bits over at some point to see if I can work it out maybe.

The mk4 switchblade key:

There is no way at all you can transfer the circuitry over.

You need to get a 433MHZ switchblade key, and a new blank. You have to transfer the transponder chip from your key to the new key, and then just pair the remote fob to the car so it works for the alarm.

That may be even easier than I thought then, my mates got Vag-Tacho which you can use to code new keys, so I'll get onto trying this after I've handed my coursework in and let people know the results.

Vag-Tacho will not work on Polo 6n2s - they use a seperate immobiliser unit that isnt part of the clocks.

Dammit, things may not go as simple then.

Any update on this? i still only have one key and can feel the day coming when i loose it .....
