Hi everyone,
Here I have for sale my 1997 P Reg 6n 1.4 8v CL Open Air which is finished in black magic pearl effect paint (in my opinion, the best colour) and it has only covered a genuine 70200 miles (so far, this is liable to change slightly as it's my daily driver at the moment). It is in my opinion in good condition for it's age. It has one minor car park ding in the offside rear door, too small to photograph, the odd stone chip and small amounts of rust to the sill area's.
It has FULL Volkswagen dealership service history as follows:-
26/06/97 - PDI at Listers VW Stratford-upon-Avon, dealer number 581
06/04/98 - 10,017 miles at Listers VW, Stratford, dealer number 581
14/07/99 - 20,152 miles at Black & White Garage, Evesham dealer number 593
19/02/01 - 30,478 miles at Black & White Garage, dealer number 593
05/06/02 - 40,330 miles at Listers VW, Stratford, dealer number 581
13/05/04 - 50,109 miles at Listers VW, dealer number 581
11/01/06 - 60,317 miles at Listers VW, dealer number 581
11/12/07 - 65,717 miles at Whiterose VW, Crosshills, Keighley, dealer number 628
12/12/08 - 66,966 miles at Whiterose VW, dealer number 628
11/12/09 - 68,538 miles at Whiterose VW, delaer number 628
It has MOT till 13th December 2010 and tax till 31st July 2010.
I'm the 3rd owner. The first owner was Listers Volkswagen of Stratford-upon-Avon as it was originally a demonstrator vehicle. It was then sold to the second owner, a lady who owned it from only a few months old right up until I purchased it from work, Whiterose Volkswagen on 22/01/10.
She traded it in against a newer Polo, but not a new one so it escaped the dreaded scrapage sceme. She traded it in as the head gasket had gone and she didn't deam it economical to repair. That's where I stept in.
The first thing I did was dismantle the engine and send the head away for skimming and testing. As soon as it returned I re-assembled the engine along with new head gasket set, cam belt kit and all rollers, auxillary drive belt and tensioner and a water pump and coolant so the engine is as good as new and should be hastle free for a good few years.
I have fitted clear front indicators, smoked side repeaters and rear tail lights from a 16v model, also aero style front wiper blades to make it look that bit more modern. I also bought some genuine Volkswagen carpet mats for it as they fit perfectly and are the correct colour for the unmarked interior. It had suffered from that unfortunate event of the rear silencer dropping off and folding up under the rear valance causing an ugly dent in the rear valance, so I bought a brand new 16v style deaper big rear bumper through work and shipped it off to the bodyshop for painting.
The only other modification is the suspension, I have fitted Bilstein gas dampers and Jamex -60mm lowerin springs, this has transformed the boat like handling dramatically. The only problem is that the springs aren't the best fit in the world as they are probably a bit too low and they can rattle slightly when going over speed bumps due to their shortness but it's something I've learned to live with. If this is a problem for the perspective buyer then I can always fit the standard springs back on. The car will still handle very well because of the gas shocks, it just won't ride low.
Being an Open Air & CL model it comes with central locking and electric windows and also benefits from the full length webastow style folding fabric sunroof which is in full working order and doesn't leak at all.
I haven't mentioned the Mk2 Golf G60 steel wheels as they are not included in the sale as I robbed them off my Mk1 Golf GTI which I'm currently restoring and have nearly finished so I need to put them back on. Obviously if someone want's them desperatly and want's to make me an offer above the asking price to keep them on then who knows, I might be temped to leave them on. Otherwise it will come with the standard 13" steel wheels all with nearly new tyres on.
The car is situated in a little village near Haworth in Keighley, West Yorkshire.
Price is £1300 or nearest offer.
I'm contactable on 07979 022021 most of the time or if you're a bit scared talking over the phone you can PM me or just text me.
Thanks for looking.
Dave.
