The bit with the two screws that are located in the inner bot handles?

There's an annoying plastic noise that I've talked about on here. . .and it's seriously getting right up my t**s so I want to take the plastic cover of the boot door off and see if driving with that off cures the noise - then work from there.

However, I'm afraid that if I take it off I'll never get it back on properly and was seeking reassurance

remove the two screws and it just pulls off

when refitting line all the clips up then give it a light tap with your hand

it's verry easy, can't do anything wrong
do as said the post above and it will be allright

No, its just a cover, I've had the one of my wife's 9N Polo off too many times and broken some of the points that the clips mount onto, fixed that using small blocks of wood - but now they have broken loose and when you shut the boot there are things "moving about" - very annoying - and the O/S shelf support "it just got caught in the wind" snapped off so I'll need to do a bodge job on that before the other side comes off!! In my opinion, unless the weather is warm, then messing about with that boot cover will annoy you slightly!

God I hope I don't snap some of the connectors :O. . . I need to stop this squeaking. . .it's driving me mad.

Standing around in the cold and doing bodge jobs on anything is rarely an enjoyable experience
Seriously though, plastic is easier to bend when its warmer - I find clips/connectors are more likely to snap off if cold.

Just take your time when doing it mate, its pretty obvious once you start taking it off.

It won't come off. . .taking off the screws actually didn't do anything at all

I tried pulling on the little indented handles that the screws came out of expecting it to pop off but its really fastened on.

Try using a screwdriver or something between the plastic panel and the tailgate to release the clips. Go round the whole edge slowly and carefully and it should come off.

So the clips are on the lower part of the cover (i.e where there is the boot door hook in the middle). . . I was trying to get it off from the bit that was at the top (i.e connected to the window).

no its just the lower half below the window that you want to take off

The retaining clips are in three "areas" and they are in three different sizes! Yes its a horrible job!

After teh 2 bolts have been removed, this shows where the clasps/clip parts are (dashed outline) which grip it into place.

Just got to ease it out those clasps. Took me a bit of controlled force with a trim removal tool and 2 screwdrivers, leaving a couple in position when I worked on a different area.



Inside of mine, showing the clips, from when I removed it to fix part of the lock mechanism (bolt had fallen out) with some useful info assistance from the forum.

Thanks mate - I've given the sound time to go away on its own but it's not happening so I''m going to use your pictures and go straight to those two clasps as I now know where they are thanks to you.

Is it at all possible that by removing those two glasps (the two things that are in white line , one of which next to the "----2" lin in the diagram) with a screwdriver that I may snap them and need a new door card? :S

Yes, its possible that they will break. Probably wouldn't need a new door card though, if most of them are still intact it would still be held steady. Even if it did break, I doubt that it would be very expensive to replace, its just a piece of moulded plastic after all.

Relax dude, just do the job slowly and think about what you are doing and it will be fine. Rushing leads to mistakes. Mistakes usually hurt your wallet
