I have a 1995 Polo. It has been driving rather peculiarly recently—a bit wobbly in the steering and loss of traction in the rain. Today, I noticed that the driver's side tyre is severely worn on the inside. The other tyres do not show this uneven wear.
What should I have my mechanic check for? My concern is that the tyre is quite severely worn and I want to be sure that I get the problem correctly fixed before putting a new tyre on.

Get the camber and tracking done - that should fix your problem
