The time has come to sell my polo, I have owned it now since March 2006 and has been a great little to car to own, really dependable and a fun car to drive. It is the 1.4E 8 valve 60bhp model in mercato blue, and has power steering, electric mirrors, ABS brakes, adjustable headlights and steering wheel and airbags. It is a nice and economical engine which is cheap to insure yet has happily sat on the motorway for regular trips up to Cumbria from Leicester etc without missing a beat. The car has now done just under 97,000 and still drives exactly as it should. I purchased the car from Motor Plus in Derby when it had done 67,000 miles. It was maintained and covered under warranty there for the first 27months of ownership with myself, and since then has been serviced regularly by myself and MOTs have been carried out at garages local to me. It is a reluctant sale but it is no longer needed due to me purchasing a new car last year. I kept the polo through the winter to keep my other car off the road (a Japanese import and very prone to rust) but now the winter months have passed I really have no need for it.
The car comes with MOT until 12th May 2011, and I have just renewed the Tax for six months so that will not expire until November 2010. History wise, I have all the MOT certificates and service/parts receipts since I have owned it and there are some dealer stamps in the book from before that. Recently it has had new spark plugs, ht leads, coil pack and new front brake lines along with fresh engine oil and a brake fluid change.
This Polo is in really good condition, I have always looked after it to a high standard and take pride in my cars. Externally the car is very good, the metallic blue paint has a great shine to it. There are one or two parking dings which you really have to look to find, but that is expected from a ten year old car, along with a few stone chips on the bonnet, again nothing significant. The only real scratch is right on the bottom of the front bumper on the passenger side, this has been there since before I owned it and to be honest it has never bothered me as it is fairly un noticeable, but I’m sure it would not cost much to get touched up if that is what the new owner wanted to do. There is also a slight scratch just underneath the bump strip on the rear bumper, this is a lot smaller and again has never bothered me, I just want to be as honest as I can when I sell it. The interior is in really good condition, there is only one tiny ‘knick’ on the side of the driver seat about the size of a pea, some one has obviously caught it when getting in or out, but apart from that there are no other rips/burns/holes etc. The only modification to the interior is a set of infinity component speakers in the front, everything else is all original including the spare wheel in the boot which has never been used. The engine bay for me is the only bit of the car that lets it down really, mechanically it is 100% but it could do with a good clean under there, something which I just don’t have time to do unfortunately. The only time it has ever let me down was when the gearbox went , this is a very common problem in polo’s of this year. They normally go around 60 - 70,000 miles but mine made it through to 87,043 at which point it and had a reconditioned gearbox fitted along with a new clutch and has been fine ever since. It goes into every gear as it should without any grinding or clanking.
There are a few modifications to the Polo, it has V-Maxx height adjustable coilover suspension fitted, there is plenty of adjustment to this kit and can be raised or lowered to suit what ever height the new owner wishes, I have the c spanners so you can still do this. The suspension does give a firmer ride but is not too crashy or bouncy, the helper springs have been removed from the rear from when I had it lower but I do still have these so you will get them if you wish to re install them. I also still have the original suspension so this can be included in the sale if the new owner wishes. The wheels are 15” BBS Solitude alloys, they were an optional extra fitted to mk4 Polo’s, and have nearly new 195/45 Goodyear Eagle F1 tyres fitted. The car also has a Powerflow ‘stealth’ exhaust fitted, this is a fully stainless cat back system which cannot be seen unless looking under the car, just like the original and comes with the lifetime warranty offered by Powerflow. It is by no means a loud exhaust, when having it made I chose not to have any silencer boxes removed, so it just gives a slightly sportier note without being loud. Back in 2008 I also had the roof sprayed gloss black, I think this is a really classy modification to these shape Polo’s, the lines of the windscreen follow nicely to the back of the car now and the paint has a great shine to it. The only other modifications to the car are the GTI splitter on the front bumper, and the black badge in the front grille.
Its really hard to put a price on it, but I will say £2200, but will happily listen to offers.
I think that just about covers it, I don’t think there is anything I have missed out but feel free to call me any time after 6pm weekdays or any time at weekend on 07595306458, my names Paul. Alternatively drop me an email on [email protected]. I am located in Market Harborough, 20 mins off j20 on the M1.

Thanks for looking B)
