i do get to use the car and i will be the one to mod it but it will be slow progress seeing as i have my own motor to mod

Ah a "B5 for him" and a "Polo for her", I have had a 2000 B5 2.8 V6 4Motion from new and got my wife a 2003MY 9N 1.4SE from new - she had a Fiesta 1.6SI (Zetec engine) before the Polo - so she still misses the power 7.5 years later" - I on the other hand had a very nice VX Cav GSI 2000 4X4 - and still miss it!!

what do you want to do with the windows? all i know is to set them to go down with one click and one click up, put them all the way down and hold the switch down for two seconds then flick it up. should work. if not, carry on doing the same thing

Think he wants to control them using the key fob. Simple in theory. I've got the software needed, although finding a laptop with a serial port is another matter entirely

Think that can be sorted by using a usb to serial converter :D

It's not so simple...the software won't run (properly) in Windows and it needs to be done run under DOS (realtime DOS, not from a DOS screen in windows). And DOS doesn't support USB, so a converter is pointless :(

And nice GT btw. If a nice, stock, low milage 3 door one came up for sale at the right price in the right colour I'd consider buying it. Thing is I'm too picky and that's not going to happen

i did the remote windows on my b5 passat but the ccm on the polo is a different number and i cant find any codes to do them
my passat has 1J0 959 799 ccm cant remember which letter derivative exactly, but the polos seem to run the 6Q0 959 433 ccms which i havent had any luck finding working codes yet
its not life or death its just if i can activate them i will as i like all the cool little (sometimes pointless) features

benmeister - the alarm beeps etc i activated with vagcom mate or vcds its sometimes known

hey rum4mo i thought your name rang a bell from somewhere mate

k.i.t.t. - i know what you mean about them being hard to come by, never mind in the exact spec you want, this was shere luck we saw it as we originally went to look at a fabia vrs on the same pitch

I take it you were using VDS-Pro to try and sort the windows out? Once I actually find a laptop with a serial cable (failing that, get a PCI serial card for the desktop and run a long-ass serial cable to the car ), I'll try and figure it out and let you know. It's a cool mod, especially in the summer :)

Thought about getting it mapped? They do go pretty well as standard though!

yes mate used vds pro, i was lucky with the laptop, my mate works in a warehouse that deals with alsorts of pcs laptops etc, and they got one in the only problem is on first startup the screen has a pink tinge to it but for nowt whos complaining :)
i tried some of the codes from the golf/bora, beetle and other ccms on my mates 9n and we couldnt get any to work so returned the numbers back to standard no harm done,

as for a remap yeah its deffinately on the list, i had a bora pd 100 and had that done to about 140 and that was great so i reckon if we can get about 160-170 and whatever torque the clutch can take i'd be really happy with it (as long as it doesn't beat my passat or id have to cry lol)

You have PM regarding the windows, seeing as I've already hijacked your thread and turned it into a mini remote windows discussion thread (Sorry  )
