My exhaust emissions light went on the other day but haven't noticed a difference in performance. Hooked it up to vagcom and got the following codes:
16554 - Fuel Trim: Malfunction: Bank 1
P0170 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent
17511 - Oxygen (Lambda) Sensor Heating: B1 S1: Performance too Low
P1103 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent
Anyone know what these mean/what i need to do? Reset the light and it hasn't come back on. Think my fuel filter is abnormally noisy - is it a good idea to replace that anyway?

Check the wiring on the lambda sensor!
When was your fuel filter last changed? IIRC it's supposed to be changed every 2 years.

Not sure when the fuel filter was last changed. Actually think it's the fuel pump that's noisy, maybe it's related to that.
Will check the lamba sensor wiring.

Thats precat wiring - the sensor on the manifold
I currently have a load of damaged wiring on the plug, so cant drive the car till i fix it!

Think I might just take it to the garage and get everything fixed, I know a guy there and if I buy the parts it'll be cheaper. It needs an oil change too so they can do that and sort out the problem.

Well it seems the lambda sensor has gone so ordered another one which will hopefully clear the problem.
Seems to be one thing after the other at the moment though and now I have ABS problems! Light keeps coming on, diagnostics says 'ABS hydraulic pump - signal outside tolerances - intermittent' - anyone know what this means? Had the light cleared and tried the suggestion on here on cleaning the fuses on the battery but not driven it yet so not sure if it has worked.

And now i have no lights on?! Haven't changed the lambda sensor but the light hasn't come back on, and neither has the ABS. What's going on?!

Possibly just a fluke. Might have been some moisture somewhere

Still no lights on but ran the diagnostics again and still coming up with 'Oxygen (Lambda) Sensor B1 S1: Malfunction in Circuit' and 'ABS Hydraulic Pump (V64) 16-10 - Signal Outside Specifications - Intermittent'.

Ok so i've done a bit of investigation and found that the wiring that goes into the connector that connects to the lambda is buggered. Half of the wires have no covering so the wires are exposed and one is cut completely. Can anyone advice how i go about fixing this?
I tried fixing them with electrical tape but it hasn't worked. I phoned up VW to see if i could order a new connector (part number 1JO-973-733) but they said it doesn't come with any wires and you have to order them separately, but there are several different sizes and types.
