Hello, I was considering buying myself a set of coilovers for the polo but was wondering what they're like to live with on a daily basis?

Wondering what ride quality Is like, how they are with speed bumps? Passengers in the car? Any problems with car parks or other gradients?

Cheers

Bumpy, often uncomfortable for long journeys, have to stop pretty often to get over things, or get used to swerving around stuff also, other drivers getting annoyed at following you slowly down poor roads, I can just about take 3 others, but get such a good collection of noises, am used to them and can identify which noise is which part of my car hitting itself or the floor. Dropped a mate off tonight and was a mission getting back out of her road as it was steep to virtually flat...

None of which you want to hear, but, I wouldn't have it any other way lol. Fun times, car looks decent, I'm used to it and so is everyone else that goes in the car, wouldn't change it at all

Hope that hasn't put you off lol

All depends how low you plan on running your car and what set up you plan on buying.

Agree with bradley, different coilovers give you different results, as does how low you go.

I have some cheap ebay collies, lowered about 80mm on standard bbs' and mine rides fine, have to slow down for speed bumps but it doesn't catch, can get 3 passengers in it also and no problems.

How low dya wanna go???

I have the ta tecnix coilovers and have never ever had a problem with mine. I only bought cheap ones because I wanted lowness. Mine are a harsh ride, but I've got used to it, as you do.

I can have a full car and not catch, however I've never tried to get over a speedbump with people in (I'm lucky because there's hardly any in Cumbria!)

I went for a decent set of Spax RSX coilovers and they seem to be fine, the handling with them is awesome.
They have adjustable damping settings so its nice to fiddle with them and decide how comfy/harsh you want the ride to be.

I was looking more for performance rather than comfort so I set my damping on the highest "Hard" setting, so they are pretty harsh but have awesome handling. If I park on a slight gradient the back wheel comes off the ground :) looks like a dog taking a slash!
Mine dont scrub with a full car but to be honest its so stiff I dont think the car even drops 10mm
