Just out of curiosity, what do people spend on their GTi?
I've just racked up my bills, and I've spent £762.50 since April on parts and services!!
Is anyone in the same boat to make me feel a little better!!!?

New centre caps
Other little bits and bobs too

Fooooking hell!! 10k!! That's a lot of cash.. But your GTi is sick! I love the engine bay and that little race tow bar! 3 Sets of wheels!!? I know which wheels would suit your car down to a tee!
But it does make me feel a loads better, my spending is nothing compared to yours.. But if I had the chance I'd do it in an instant!

You guys wouldn't fix my exhaust or track my car (old Polo GT - Black one) it was too low!!
I never did fix the hazy headlights, BUT.. I know how to change the clear lens. You can use an non-xenon headlight casing as they can be found cheaper. I am yet to find one tho! Every time I arrange to buy one from another certain polo forum I get let down!

Biggest cost for me was buying my car.I saved every penny and hunted for 3 months until the right one came up.
Have had two new tyres this year at £160.
MOT,Oil change, cambelt, auxillary belt and cambelt tensioners etc at VW for a haggled price of £400.
New suspension at £460.
But thats my car pretty sorted on major bits for a couple of years.

Ha ha, hardly anywhere took that car tho, it was really low!
I just covered mine with headlight protectors and it hid the hazy-ness for the time being. Once I get some replacement lenses I will do a guide!

Not bad really!
I stumbled upon my car, I was offered a swap for my old GT as the previous owner of my GTi heard I wanted something newer and he wanted something older! Was a done deal in about 4 hours of the offer being had! I always hated mk5 GTi's too... How wrong I was!

My car owes me a fortune really, I don’t think I really even want to know how much I spent on it.
Most expensive bills have been the Cambelt Tensioner change & service at VW which was nearly £500, Spax Coilovers were just under £500, Wheels set me back £525, I don’t really count general maintenance such as tyres, oil, filters etc because those costs are unavoidable.
BMC, Short Shifter, Raceland Manifold, Bodyshop work, Tints, Brakes..... there's another £1200 easy

Well that was my issue, spending too much just getting the car in a good running order. The money will need to be spent to sell the car on, but at which point the car should be good for at least a few years so might as well keep it!

Whats up with it??
Mines on 113k, Mine needs cambelt kit, window switches, front wheel bearings and the car should be good for years and years to come! that's only about £200 of stuff, so not too bad. But spending £1000 in less then 6 months on a car, just for maintenece/servicing purposes is just silly when I could have spent it on booze and hookers
