i guys my names paul i was given a 3 door polo gti.i want to sell but dont know what its worth,ill explain the faults and describe the car.
its an x reg 3 door red gti ,it has 82000 miles on the clock.mot for 6 more months
drives very well,but very very loud because it has a massive exaust ,i hate it.
any way it has nasty lexus lights,croded bbs original rims,horn not working ,rear wiper not working ,no fog lights as the bulbs are broken and the glass is missing,passenger side window not working ,climatronic is not nice and cold like it should be,
cup holder has lost the part with the pic of the cup on,also the glove box has lost the part with the lock on,interioer light only comes on when passenger door is opened,not driver side,

now the mirrors are eletric but i cant find the switch to test if they work lol.
now the really bad bit
the car was hit in the back and was fixed but bodged.so when you close the tailgate there is a big gap all oround so it dosent look fully closeed,only 1 brake light and its not just the bulb,and no reverse light also not just the bulb,.

i need to be honest in my ad to sell because people just wont pay if i lie.
last thing paint is good condition interior is ok no fag burns.

so how much should i sell for thanks in advance for all your help

ps there is only 1 dent thats on the side skirt seal i hit my garden wall but its small

oh i forgot one of the front lights is loose but not really noticeable,no 6 cd boot changer or gamma tape deck radio.it has kenwood cd player,i think thats all folks

does any1 know what i can sell my gti for please,some1 must know the value

Are you planning on selling it with all of the faults you've listed above or repairing some of them?.

It's hard to put a price on a car thats in poor shape.

im selling as it is.i could lie about the faults but when the buyer comes to my house and see it ill get no where,im just surprised no 1 can give me an idea ,im thinking 1600 pound

I'd say £1000 to 1500 Max.. The average price for an average GTi nowadays is about £2500.. There is one on here for £1800 which is much nicer than yours sounds...!!!

Most of the things you have said are little fixes, but realistically are going to cost £100's and £100's if not pushing £1000+ if done through garages.

Only worrying thing there is the hit up the back.. It's probably a write off if it would have gone through insurance.. Insurance write off GTi's only go for about 1500ish and since yours sounds a little rough I'd say worth less..

Pictures say a thousand words though, maybe get some up, including the damage would help a proper estimate.

got no pics plus you cant see the damage really ,but thanks guys ill sell for 1500 on gumtree as its free and im skint.yes if it had gone through insurance it probley would be written off ,because to make the tailgate close perfectly flush would cost a couple of grand to put right

when i do sell ill take pics of the rear damage and ill list all issues for my advert .so im not wasting time

Get it advertised in see if you get any bites... You can always lower the price..

It sounds harsh but its worth more in parts than as an actual car, the gearbox & engine are probably worth £700-800 together but I would say your GTI is worth about £1200.

Cant value it properly without any pics but it sounds like a beaten up example and these cars are normally well looked after.
I have seen Decent GTI's sell for 2K on eBay so you would be lucky to get £1500.

See how you get on but if it doesnt sell at that price then you might want to think about reducing it or selling it in bits.

ben a grand is harsh but u are right methinks,cos the bay and auto trader have gtis for 1600 that all eletrics work propply,and no damage that cost thousands to fix,the car looks great to look at ,but when you get close you will see the tailgate has a larger gap around the edge when closed dont let water in tho.and looks fine,
but if the buyer wanted a perfectly flush tailgate ,it would cost more than the car is worth,ive been to a few body shops

because the car has no service history i dont know if the gearbox has ever been replaced or refurbed,but gearbox feel perfect to me
