Alright guys, been wanting to paint the stripe on my GTi grille for a while now and ive been wondering if theres any kind of method to getting the stripe off the grille?.. because ive looked but cant seem to figure out how to get it off without snapping any clips, its a genuine vw part if that helps.

Cheers 8)

Have you took the grille off all together?

Last time I had my grille off, it seemed fairly simple to take the red strip off the outer edge, only a few clips it seemed

Didn't look like any would break whilst removing it either, although I didn't try really

Figured it out now! Sorry to even waste your time, easy when you know how...

There like barb clips but dont push back to come out, so you just get a screwdriver and pull back the thing its clipped on to and it comes straight out.. if that makes sense.

Cheers anyway!

i have the badgeless grill from FK automotive.
it doesn't have the red stripe on it either.
but i used my red stripe from my stock grill.
used a dremel to remove the clips on it, made it even and used good glue to put it on the grill from FK.
looks just like the stock grill, but without a badge

i got the same FK grill, but i tried doing what turbomier said but ended up wrecking the red band. so instead i got a paintshop to spray a green line on instead :P works a treat too.

because i have lack of time, i'll post some pictures later this day or tommorow
it's not so hard to do, took me about 1 hour to complete the job
but you must be gentle with the red line, it might snap because it's pretty fragile.
