Throttle body diameter

Hi. I was wondering if someone could tell me the diameter of the throttle body on a Polo GTi 6n2. I've not currently got access to the car so unfortunately I can't check.

I'm planning on fitting a BMC induction kit to replace the standard airbox. The diameter of the BMC is 70mm and from what I can gather, I believe the throttle body is smaller. Would you therefore recommend fitting an appropriate reducer ring to the BMC and then the appropriate 90 degree silicone hose to the throttle body? I've seen people fitting a 70mm hose and fitting the reducing ring to the throttle body instead. I know it seems trivial but does one way prove advantageous over another?

Thanks.
