I've been noticing my screen wash just isn't lasting. Last night, I filled it up, drove about 50 miles and parked the car. When I returned to it, below the passenger side there was a huge puddle of screen wash. It was as though it had all just ran out on to the ground.

I had a look at the wheel arch liner and it was soaked but I couldn't see any evidence in the engine bay of a leak. I checked all of my washers with the lights on and all of them are working so all the pipes are connected. Is it possible there's a hole in the screen wash tank?

The GTIs have a secondary washer tank located inside the passenger arch. It is linked to the main tank by one part that inserts into the other - sometimes the bottle can crack at the join where the joining parts are (cant think of a better name for them!) and leak

Other than that, it could be one of the two washer pumps leaking.

Get the arch liner off and have a ganders!

Whats the point in having a seconadary washer tank? lol

Cheers Alex, I'll maybe take a look at the weekend providing I can get a chance and I'll HOPEFULLY have a few pictures to show the damage.

If it is cracked, what's my best method to repair it? I was just thinking some sort of epoxy resin or something like that?

In my experience, its much easier to just buy a new one (the main bottle) which is about £17. I tried an epoxy resin approach, but due to the angle of the join pipe, and the ingredients in screen wash, it didn't last very long and just started leaking again
