I want to give my car a good polish that should last the winter as I drive to london daily for Dorset and because of the salt last year I thought it was about time.
What would you suggest for a good polish and wax.
I don't want no £1500 polish like I used on my last car (I didn't pay for it, I found it in the back of a lorry)

Your best getting some Poorboys White Diamond Glaze, Klasse German Polish and Collinite 476S Wax.
Combine those 3 babys together and your on to a Winner. It will cost you about £45-50 for all 3 (combined) but its worth it

cool.
Will I get these in halfords? I hate this shop. I was going to put it in for a hardcore polish to my mate who is a VW sprayer he wanted £150 for a compound polish. Is that good?

not at Halfords no. the best brand halfords does is Megs
other then that its all Autoglym (they love it cose people know it and therefore think its brilliant...can you tell i dont like the stuff? lol)
mer, turtle wax, Halfords own brand, Halfords advance, car plan, and so on.
all the products are alright, but not great, they go for the cheapish, alrightish stuff, becuase they r the brands people know and therefore trust.
all the goodens, all the ones proper detailers use are mainly on the net or at shows,
dodo, swissvax, chemical guys and that lot, even Megs do special products speically for detailers and the hardcore car owners lol
this stuffs like £30 but looks what it does

you lot are great.
I wash the car every thurs and sunday but thought its time for a polish.
I will sort out these over the weekend.
All I keep hearing is collinite, I take it that is good stuff? I have some wicked polish but its tooooo expensive to put on this car. I got it when I was working at the london motor show. I thought it was cheap and then googled it and woooooow £1500 for polish!!!!!

Yeah Collinite is a great product, highly recommended on here.
The Collinite is Wax though so should be applied last, make sure its Glazed and Polished first.
£1500 Polish? What's that stuff called then?

I will have to find it. It came in a "special box" felt really nice on your fingers. They use it on Lambo's. My dad uses it on his 300c!!! Its a wax. I would never pay that but there is one out there for £24k.

Some of the main dealer gagrages such as Mercedes & BMW sell waxes for their cars for £hundreds of pounds but in reality they are worth £10-15.
People with more money than sense think they are buying "the best" because the price would suggest that but its rarely the case.
I have seen Application pads from BMW priced at £150 which are no better than your "2 for £2" pads.

Completely agree. The wax is what'll protect the car the most during winter. Cover it in the collinite and leave it on the car for about 20-30 minutes to haze over then buff the remainder off.
If you order off elite, type in

Autoglym do some good stuff! Super resin polish is good, as is the custom wheel cleaner.

aye its just me really, i just dont get on with the stuff. everything ive evey used from autoglym ive found something better in another brand at a similar price.
(better results, easier to use, lasts longer, ect). i used to think it was ok for the price but thats not even the case anymore

For winter protection id strongly recommend Collinite 476s wax.Apply a coat of this after you have polished (and glazed if you glaze it) your car then leave it to haze.Remove the wax with a buffing towel as i found these work best for me.I repeat the procedure twice maybe even 3 times if you plan on this keeping it in good shape over winter.
AutoGlym make some superb products in my opinion.Super resin polish is outstanding for its price and has proved to many people on Detailing world. Also Glass polish is another excellent product, one of the few glass cleaners that actually removes everything with a smearless finish.
