Petrol and diesel - MY2003/2004 came with discs all round.
For MY2005, VW are now putting drums on the rear
That's what they're saying across at polo9n.com.
Really am amazed by that. That's not the normal cost-cutting that goes on as you value engineer a product over it's lifespan, but pure, unadulterated, blatant de-spec'ing!!
I'm be astounded if it turns out to be true!!
Deek.

discs in my opinion looks much better... i bought a 1.2 then found out it had drums... well if this issue is true, it makes me feel slightly better.

No mention of brakes change on Polo's in the MY05 revisions list I've had a look at. Mentioned a few bits and bobs, like middle 3-point seatbelt, no more SDI badge, but yeah...no brakes stuff.

LOL!
I agree with that...do they actually sell?
A friend of mine's just downgraded to one...they gave him a good deal to swap, so I assume they're slow sellers!

The good old SDI's...
Up side you get about a 1000 miles per tank
Down side just too slow

:O Really? That's so not fair. I want those disc brakes at the back too.
Which ones do you have?

so painting calipers red is betta than paintin a drum brake

Yeah I know that, but it'l look stupid with red at front and grey at the back?

Can i still paint the "drums" though?

sylonien, if you paint the drums red, they will "scream" they are drums. if you paint the front calipers and leave the drums, then -calipers- would be missing at the rear, which would still attract negative attention

my suggestion is, don't paint it. but its your choice
