I noticed this morning that when I accelerate I am getting a horrible noise from the passanger side of the car. It sounds like around the gearbox. It's only when I accelerate. Sounds like grinding. Its not the gearbox.

What can this be????

Could be a number of things really, I had a similar problem earlier this year and it turned out to be the front exhaust bracket.
Its common for them to become loose/damaged and when they do go wrong they can make a rattling sound in 1st & 2nd gear.

Na, this was all gears! Sounds like the drive shaft. Can this go wrong?

Could be a CV joint?

thats what I was hoping. Usually by now mr perkins has come along a got it right so I will wait for Mr Know-it-all

if it was the drive shaft or a CV joint it wouldnt be a grining noise and it wouldnt be coming from where the gearbox is.
The CV joints make a clicking sound when they are on their way out and you will only hear it when you put the car on 3/4 or full lock.

What about brakes, the pads could be worn down to the metal?

I dont think it will be the brakes because its making the noise when he's accelerating rather than stopping

Does it happen on deceleration too?

Only acclerating!!!

Could well be a wheel bearing. There isnt much else that it could be

As others have said, a CV joint will make a clicking noise due to its design. Theres nothing it it that can grind as such.

It could be a damaged bush also, but i find this unlikely.

Basically I was racing some dude in a Suxo and then I noticed the noise. Its not constant. I have no clue!!!!!!!

Its a horrible noise, sounds like a dry spinning noise (sounds weird I know) not a happy boy! 2 problems this week now!

I will be around all weekend so I will text you. This car is stress, got offered £2800 for it yesterday but can't part with it! Its a sick obsession!!

I am thinking maybe the gearbox AGAIN alex. Good thing for the warrenty. I will still come see you tho for your pro opinion
