Hi,

I have sourced a used key from someone on the net, because my original remote has died, vw say i need to buy a new one but their prices are crazy high.

I would like an insight as to whteher i can get these programmed from vw to work on my car, obviously at a price. The key has a transponder chip on a cut blade and a working remote.

Has this happened to anyone else here?

And what makes things worse i only have one key with the car.

Does the key still work to start the car?

If thats all it is, you can change the remote fob on its own which needs no programming by VW, as you can link the keyfob to the central locking yourself easily.
