I re connected the broken wire and it snapped again.
When it goes into the door from the car how long does this have to be and where does it go in the car?

Is it broken inside the rubber sleeve? This runs into the door card - you can replace it all the way up with a VW repair wire.

Cheers alex. Got to love Vw they have a repair kit for everything. Shows rubbish build quality!

Not really - just means they have the right parts to do repairs if things wear out quicker than anticipated.
