From here.
VOLKSWAGEN Sfero: Volkswagen makes it on Bavarian. The crossing between SUV and giant combination astonished not only because of the partnership with Maserati, it is for Volkswagens mixes for the first time planned by front engine and rear propulsion. The enormous sport combination is larger with a length of 4.85 meters a whole piece than the trade wind and has also otherwise nothing with the traditional Volkswagen carrier to do.
(n.b. "trade wind" = Passat)

VOLKSWAGEN Sfero: The Sfero sets Volkswagens on the combination of front engine and rear propulsion. That is to bring as balanced a handling as possible and provides for problems. With tail-impulse-learn to have the Volkswagen Mannen little experience. "Kein Problem", the highest gulf driver Pischetsrieder means and brings still recent co-operation with Maserati in the play. The Italians are to supply drive strand and engine of the new Quattroporte for the Sfero. Wants to be called: The eight-cylinder parliamentary group from the house Volkswagen gets increase. Briefly after the Sfero start 2007 the Pampers express is to get also an all wheel folder.

Well, at least they're putting the concept out there. Maybe they're trying to guage response. But the notion of a variety fo SUV-type VWs has been floating around for a good while. I guess if you've got a chassis geared for 4WD, starting off with RWD isn't technically such a great deal...

Deek.
