et and offsets

need some help guys as i don't quite understand offsets and et's.
i currently need 20mm spacers to clear my brake calipers.
im looking to get new wheels over the winter and want to know what offset and et i should be looking at getting so that i don't need the spacers?
the wheels om looking at are 7x15 with an et of 20. would this solve my problem?
